History
“History at Acklam Grange is an amazing subject. It helps us to understand about people, places and ideas that have been around long before we were.”
Year 10 student
History is the memory of mankind. It provides a sense of our identity, community and culture and creates a framework from which we can relate to the rest of the world.
History fires students’ curiosity about the past in Britain and the wider world. They see the diversity of human experience and understand more about themselves as individuals and members of society. This can influence their decisions about personal choices, attitudes and values.
History provides us with inspiration in the form of positive role models. It is important to learn lessons from all that we, as humans, have done wrong and to draw inspiration from those who make us proud to be humans.
