Headteacher’s welcome
It is our pleasure to welcome you to Acklam Grange School.
Acklam Grange is a school with a big heart, a strong sense of community and high aspirations for every young person. We are incredibly proud of our students, our staff and the families who make up the AGS Family.
We are committed to working together to ensure that every student is supported to thrive, achieve their potential and develop the knowledge, skills, confidence and character they need for life beyond school.
Our AGS Family is built on strong relationships, inclusion, equality and equity, high aspirations and a belief that every young person has the potential to achieve great things. I look forward to continuing to work with our students, staff, families and wider community as we move forward together.
Our shared vision is simple: ‘Serving our children, families and community by preparing them for life in modern Britain.’
Michael Laidler
Executive Headteacher
As Head of School, I am delighted to welcome you to Acklam Grange and to have the opportunity to work alongside our students, staff and families each day.
Our priority is to ensure that every student feels safe, valued, supported and challenged to be the very best version of themselves. We want every young person to feel that they belong at Acklam Grange and that their individual talents, interests and aspirations are recognised and celebrated.
From the classroom to our extensive enrichment opportunities, we are committed to providing students with the experiences they need to develop academically, personally and socially. We want our students to leave Acklam Grange proud of what they have achieved and confident about their future.
Together, we are committed to ensuring that Acklam Grange remains a school where students are known, valued and supported to succeed.
We believe that education is about much more than academic success. It is about developing the whole child, nurturing curiosity, building confidence and creating opportunities for every student to discover their talents and achieve their aspirations. Our approach to this is through our ‘One Curriculum Commitment’. This is a commitment to our students and families that the curriculum at AGS is one that is well rounded and develops the whole child. It challenges and develops both the academic aspects but is also deliberately designed for opportunities to explicitly develop the broader aspects of all our students including their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
We are proud to be the AGS Family where we work with our students, families and community to continue to make Acklam Grange a place where every young person can thrive.
