What was your experience at Acklam Grange like?

My time at AGS was short but sweet as I only started in year 10. There were a lot of ups and downs but the good always comes if you push through and speak to someone.

What person, class or experience most influenced you?

Miss Garner.

How did your education at AGS prepare you for your career?

I feel like AGS gave me the little bit of confidence I needed to get over the first jump and yes it took time but there’s people in the school that actually care. I wasn’t always amazing in my lessons but my teachers always had the patience to try.

What has your career path been like? How did you get to where you are?

It has been up and down where one minute you feel like you’re flying next you feel like you have taken ten steps back but that’s how it keeps you on your toes and keeps you thinking. I was told about Castle Construction through AGS and went for my interview not long after I’d left school. With this type of job, if you want to make something out of it you have to be serious about it and yiu have to show people you’re serious about what you’re doin.

What do you enjoy about your job?

It keeps you moving most of the time without even realising and the energy most of the time on a site is amazing, you go to work and you just get on and have a laugh. I also like how we’re not always in the same place as we travel between jobs.

What skills have served you well in your career?

Maths
Communication

What advice would you give to current Acklam Grange students about their future?

Find people who show interest and support you. Don’t hold back for others, be yourself. Cherish and appreciate those around you.
