German Exchange Programme
A link between Acklam Grange School and Emmelshausen Schule in the Rhineland Germany, has existed for approximately 15 years.
Initially exchange trips for lower school pupils in Years 7/8/9 were organised every December, to visit the Christmas markets in Germany. English pupils were accommodated with German host families during their 4 day stay and took part in German school and home life. The German cexchange pupils arrived each spring for the return visit to England.
For the past 5 years, pupils studying German in Year 10, have had the opportunity to complete a week's work experience in the Rhineland, co-ordinated by our partner school. Pupils complete their work experience in local German businesses, practising their language skills and are accommodated by German host families. The German pupils complete their work experience the following spring in Middlesbrough. |

Berlin Visit - July 2005
In July 2005, 18 Year 10 pupils studying German took part in a 4 day cultural visit to Berlin, the German capital. The group was accompanied by Mrs Judson and Mr Neeley.
During the trip, pupils visited the German parliament,
the Brandenberg Gate, the Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie, Alexanderplatz and numerous museums.
Pupils were able to practise their language skills and experience German culture and history at first hand. All pupils thoroughly enjoyed the trip. |
