Acklam Grange School is committed to Initial Teacher Training, in partnership with the University of Sunderland, within Business Studies, Health and Social Care, Leisure and Tourism and Retail.

A typical placement will consist of :

• Observing within the Vocational and Business Studies Department for 1 week
• Observing within different departments for 1 week looking at different staff with different experiences e.g. Head Of Year
• Tracking a Gifted &Talented and SEN pupil for a week
• The student teacher will now be given a timetable and will follow the classes and start getting involved with working with small groups and team teaching
• Teach for remainder of practice

Students also :

• Have a weekly meeting with generic mentor Mrs C Hole about all aspects of school life
• Have a weekly meeting with subject mentor – Mr C Stannard
• Attend departmental, staff and pastoral meetings
