Year 9 student

The core aim of the PRIDE curriculum is to prepare our students for life in modern Britain. It is our programme for the more traditional PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education). The programme covers statutory themes as well as a perosnalised curriculum tailored to the issues that are students tell us they are facing through our student voice PRIDE questionnaire at the beginning of each year. 

Lessons are differentiated across year groups and across the ability range. 

Topics include:

Development of self

Resilience, growth mind-set, revision and study skills, life skills

Keeping Safe

Relationships, exploitation, sex and consent, assertiveness, FGM, substance misuse, radicalisation and extremism, mental health and emotional wellbeing, stress and relaxation techniques, diet and exercise

Working Collaboratively to Make a Difference

Collaboration, planning, presenting, negotiating, creative skills, communication, sense of worth, PRIDE

Preparing for the Future

Democracy and elections, employability skills, self-reflection, CEIAG, budgeting and finance, consumer rights

Developing a 'Moral' Compass and Building Self Confidence
