Religious Studies

“I find Religious Studies really interesting because you find out what other people’s values and beliefs are and how they might be different to your own.”

Year 11 student

Religious Studies encourages students to question, understand, reflect, appreciate and respect a variety of cultures and belief systems which may be different to their own. In a multi-cultural society appreciation of our similarities and  differences promotes community cohesion and provides a sound moral grounding for positive social development.

Our Religious Studies provision is based on Middlesbrough SACRE’s Locally Agreed Syllabus. We cover aspects of all six major world faiths as well as Humanism. Students start off by looking at religion in Middlesbrough so they can see how fits into their lives and those of their communities. They also have the opportunity to experience different faiths by visiting places of worship within our community.
