Course Aims

To develop an understanding and appreciation of a wide range of dance styles.

Students will study different styles of dance including ballet and Asian dance.  However, the course is focused around the style of contemporary.

As part of the course students will study all aspects of Dance from Health and Safety to lighting and costume.

Students must be prepared to visit theatres regularly; perform both solo and in groups, perform in shows and concerts and regularly attend extra rehearsals.  Students will also learn the skills of creating dance through themes, poems, stories and art.

If you have a keen interest in dance and would like to study the subject further at GCSE level this may be the course for you.

No previous experience of dance is required.
