“I decided to choose Digital Technology because I wanted to work in the creative industry."

Year 10 student

As a faculty we combine a range of curriculum areas to enable students to develop the resilience and independence needed to progress into post 16 or into the career of their choice. Our exciting new curriculum enables our students to study Computer Science, Digital Literacy and Creative Media before being offered a wide range of courses in Years 10 and 11.

We continue to value the role of ICT Skills for the workplace so all of our students complete the ECDL in IT Application Skills course. Additionally we offer students a range of courses in Years 10 and 11 to allow students to build a variety of "life skills" that would be suitable for any career.

Creative Media

Creative Media allows students to learn about a range of software that will equip learners with a range of creative skills.  By studying a variety of technology in a range of contexts students develop a keen understanding of the importance of technology in the modern age.  Working individually and collaboratively, students develop skills in research techniques, creative concepts and self-reflection whilst learning to use technology safely and responsibly.  Students improve their skills in a range of software to meet the requirements of the course whilst completing challenges to deepen their understanding.

Computing

Within Computing lessons students focus on how computers impact on peoples everyday lives, learning how to control technology to obtain the results needed to manipulate the world around us. Students also look at the impact technology has on individuals and wider society.  Students practice a range of skills including critical thinking, problem solving, analysis and programming. Students take part in investigations to develop their computational thinking skills and develop resilience as they explore the theories behind computing. We provide our students with valuable experiences and enable them to pursue a career in the field of Computing.
